(Sorry, just kidding.) I'm not sure about white cake mixes being part of American culture, but Crisco definitely is! It is a vegetable shortening, and is of a solid consistency. There is also a "butter-flavored" Crisco, and I use it to make pie crust. Wish I could send you some, but don't think that's allowed.
