Are you a college student on a tight budget? Do you know a college student on a tight budget? Are you, yourself on a tight budget? Albertsons' Nutritionist, Heidi Diller has put together easy and affordable meal ideas with an Albertson's shopping list that college students (or you) can make, afford and help you eat healthy!
Most of us know it's extremely difficult to eat healthy when you're in college. I know I stocked up on Ramen Noodles, Frozen Perogies, Chips and Cheese, Spaghetti, Cereal for dinner and what my family affectionately calls, "Hidden Corn." Not all are the healthiest of choices! As a result of my bad eating habits in college, I gained 15 lbs! Not only did I gain weight, but I was tired all the time. Poor nutrition causes you to feel fatigued. I wish I had had access to the great meal suggestions and shopping lists that Albertsons offers on their website!
Even now, as a mother, I find nutritious food to be one of the best gifts I can give to my family. With Albertsons' great meal suggestions, you will easily be able to make this happen for you family!
On a tight budget, no problem! We are too! Albertsons' meal suggestions and shopping lists help you purchase products that you can use in a number of ways. There is no better way of stretching your dollar than to use the same ingredients in multiple recipes, or to use last night's dinner in a new way, to make a whole new dinner the next day!
I am honored to be able to give away TWO $25 Albertsons gift cards to two of my readers! You can keep them for yourself, or send them to someone you know who is just starting out in college.
How to Enter:
*Comment below with a story of how you ate in college, or are eating in college, and how Albertsons gift card would help you or someone you know who's on a budget!
*Include your email address so that we can contact you if you win!

In college I used to eat a lot of hot dogs and macaroni and cheese...also grilled cheese and ramen noodles! There was also a lot of late night pizza!! I would love an Albertsons gift card to stock up on some good, healthy options!

I ate a lot of noodles and tomato sauce, cheese sandwiches and bought store brand items instead of big name brands, items that had long shelf or refrigerator life.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I was in college out of High School I lived with roommates. We ate a LOT of off brand packaged foods. Tons of stuff from the dollar store. Ramen, canned soups, frozen value dinners and dollar menu's. Somehow though we always had money for beer...go figure. Now as a stay at home mom and returning to school we have a tight food budget. An extra $25 for the holiday season would really go far and help.
ReplyDeleteWell I am not in college at the current time, but I've had 9 surgeries in the last year and have been on a very tight budget with all the driving we do back and forth to the hospital that is two hrs from my home. My husband just drove there three times in the last week since my last surgery was a last minute thing. The Dr just kept me there for the week. Our cupboards are stocked with ramen noodles. My niece eats them A LOT. I have in the past but since it raises my blood sugar I really shouldn't but when your in a tight budget there is no other choice. I have made Asian Coleslaw with the ramen noodles, which is a fav here. I know my good friend has made all kinds of other things with them as well.
ReplyDeleteWhen I moved out on my own for the first time I lived on ramen noodles. Needless to say that didnt help with weight gain lol. i now live in the south and we have a albertsons right down the road. I was just there last night getting stuff to make the buffalo penne pasta tonight for dinner. And they are the only local store where i found the crock pot liners at. Needless to say Albertsons is where I shop. I know this is supposed to be about when in college but i never it made it that far, but i plan on enrolling in online classes very soon :) never to late to get a education and to full fill my dream of being a teacher!
ReplyDeleteI ate pretty badly in college (fast food, etc.) but I never did resort to ramen! I bought them several times but never broke down and ate them. When I did attempt to cook, pasta was a perennial favorite. Thanks for the giveaway!

Man I love Albertson's but I find that they can be a little too expensive for me unless they're having some great sales, like the Buy one Get 2 free pork chops and sirloins! I'm trying to save to go back to college so I would L.O.V.E. to win this! I had to drop out of college my 2nd year to start working full time but while I was going I ate a lot of sandwiches, vienna sausages and ramen noodles! Now I scour the internet for inexpensive meals especially ones for the crock pot. Anyways, I hope that I win! Thanks :) britt_lanier@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteIn college, I lived on cereal, ramen, and peanut butter sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteSince we don't have Albertson's here, I would send the gift card to my little sister who recently graduated college and is trying to make it on her own.
In college, I ate in the cafeteria quite a bit, since my parents bought me a dining plan! It wasn't the most nutrious food, but it was very cheap for me :) As a stay-at-home mom, I would love an Albertsons gift card!
