Cheesy Ranch "Tot" Bake

This was seriously, one of the most AMAZINGLY FLAVORFUL dishes I've made to date!  And you know what???  I don't even like tator tots!!!!!!  LOL  I do as long as I make them like this!  Holy cow was this good!

About now, you should be running, not walking to the store to get theses ingredients!!!!!!!!  No, seriously, run!  LOL  I ate my dinner and could have had seconds or thirds.....but, I'm trying to lose these last 10 baby pounds! ;)

The ranch seasoning fell out of the cupboard at me while gathering the rest of the ingredients I needed.....so that was a very happy mistake!  The Cheddar Cheese Soup???  Well, a certain 3 year old may have dropped that in my cart by accident one day at the grocery store!  Anothe happy accident! So, fate was responsible for making this so incredibly amazing!!!!

Ok, now head to the store!

Cheesy Ranch "Tot" Bake

Ingredients:
1 lb. ground turkey, cooked
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. onion powder
1/2 cup onion, chopped
2 cups cheese, shredded (I had mexican blend, but use whatever sounds good to you!)
32 oz. bag frozen Tator Tots
1 can Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup
1 can Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
1 cup milk
1 packet dry ranch dressing mix

Directions:
Spray your slow cooker insert with non-stick spray.
Line the bottom with the ground turkey, cooked with salt and pepper.

Sprinkle the onions on top of that.

Layer on your cheese.

Dump the tator tops on top of that.

Mix together the cream of chicken soup, cheddar cheese soup, onion powder, milk and ranch.

Pour that over the top of the tator tots and spread evenly.

Cook on LOW for 7-9 hours or on HIGH for 4-6 hours.
Enjoy!

  1. That looks awesome and I love tator tots! Did you thaw them before putting them in the crockpot or throw them in frozen? Looks so good!

  2. My family gave me an affirmative NO as soon as I read "ground turkey"...Do you think they would even notice?? Or could I sub ground beef?

    1. they won't notice at all! My family said they hate ground turkey, but I use it in chili, spaghetti, and tacos! and they rave this is soo good! I just smile..and say thank you.

    2. Here is another trick to use when substituting turkey for ground meat. 1st trick, to ease them into the switch use half ground turkey and half ground beef. Cook them together and add 1cube or teaspoon of beef bouillon along with your other seasonings. Make sure to mix it all up together thoroughly. Your family will never know the difference.

  8. Hello!!! How nice that you teach elementary music. I taught elementary music for years and then I was bumped to 2nd grade last year and 5th grade this year.

  11. I made this yesterday, we LOVED it! I used onion flavored tator tots and it was VERY oniony but we all loved it (even the 9 month old) My hubby was disappointed that the tator tots didn't stay crunchy though.

  12. I used frozen hash browns instead of tator tots, and it worked well, too. This way I wasn't really expecting crunchy tots and the cheese seemed even cheesier since it could fit between the shredded potatoes.

    Kim, great idea!

  14. Made this tonight & it's so good. My crockpot cooks really fast & hot so the cheese burnt on the edges but the middle was yummy. Ill be making it again just cooking half the time.

    1. That's a great idea Mandy. I just recently saw a trick from another Crock Pot Mom to take some foil (a few layers) and lay it over the side of your crock and into the side where the hot spot is. It keeps that spot from burning!
