Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the Crock Pot Slow Cooker and sprinkle with the taco and ranch packets.
Mix together the salsa, Cream of Chicken soup and black beans.
Pour the mixture over the Chicken.

Cook on LOW for 5-6 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours.
Shred the Chicken and stir it in the sauce.
Serve over rice or on a tortilla
with some shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream.

I saw that someone shared this link in the comments over at Newlywoodwards.com so I had to come check it out. This looks delicious. I am trying to pair down my pantry and I have ALL thes items so this is perfect. Can't wait to make and try this.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're here! Can't wait to hear what you think!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog and decided to try this recipe a couple of months ago. This recipe is SO delicious - I've made it several times already and it's a hit with my hubby and friends. Thanks for sharing! - Allison
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear that Allison! Thank you for sharing your comment!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and can't wait to cook this! I'm cooking for a crowd at 6. If I double the recipe, any idea on how that change the cook time? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLiz, just give it an extra hour or do maybe. I don't think it should change the cooking time too much!
ReplyDeleteJust made it tonight, and it was fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! One of my all-time favorites!
ReplyDeleteHad this tonight for dinner and Dan had seconds, and Lila said, "yummy". It was a hit all around. It's a VERY tasty meal that's full of flavor and spice...and everything nice;-) !!! Thanks Hope!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you guys liked it!!!
ReplyDeletedo you know if you can use frozen chicken breasts or do they need to be thawed first? i've only ever used my slow cooker for dips and meatballs... my twins are 7 and in scouts so we are starting to have those busy nights where it would be great to not have to try to prepare something in the evening. i'm thinking this may be a great 1st recipe to try! thanks!
ReplyDeleteCorinne,
ReplyDeleteIt will be soupier (due to the liquid from the frozen chicken) but would be fine. Increase the cook time to about 7-8 hours on LOW
Hi! This sounds good. If I don't have cream of chicken soup, could I use cream of mushroom? Would it still be good?
ReplyDeleteI made this today...There is NOTHING better than coming home from work, having my 17 year old son MEET ME AT THE DOOR to ask "Mom, when is dinner? That stuff in the crock smells awesome, and tastes AMAZING!" AGREED, it was FABULOUS!!! Can't wait to try it again!!! Made it almost as written. Added kidney beans instead of black beans because I had them on hand, and probably had 1 1/2 - 2 pounds of chicken, 4 medium sized breasts, as that is what was in the pack I took out of the freezer! Thanks SO much for sharing this awesome recipe, and thanks to so many fans for talking about it on your FB page recently that brought it to my attention! Can't wait to make it again. I'm sure it will become a new favorite!
ReplyDeleteI made this last night. I literally threw it in the crockpot in 5 minutes that morning with frozen chicken. I had to use navy beans because that is all I had. I squuezed in some lime juice at the end. So so good. The 7, 5 and 2 year olds ate it until they saw the beans. Next time I will make this with refriend beans so they cant "find" them. Thank you for this one. It is going unto the rotation!
ReplyDeleteEdlyn - sure!
ReplyDeleteMichele - that is awesome!
Jill - Great idea! And you're welcome!
Making this for dinner tonight. I added a can of corn to help stretch the recipe. My husband loves it and always eats two helpings. Then there isn't enough left overs for the next night. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL....great idea!
ReplyDeleteThis was SOOOO Good! I'm sure this will be a regular in our house. Loved to that is was so simple and quick to put together. I did add a part of a jar of jalopenos. We like it spicy :) Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear it Kelly!
DeleteMade this today for dinner this evening-SOOOOO good!!! I used three chicken breasts, so I could have increased the salsa and maybe even the cream of chicken soup slightly. During the cooking process, I was worried that the mixture would be too soupy, but I wound up adding some chicken stock after shredding the chicken because I needed more liquid! I will be sure not to cook quite as long (4 hours on high) or shred the chicken quite as much next time, but the recipe is FABULOUS! My super picky 2 and 5 year olds loved it! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your family enjoyed it soo much!!!!
DeleteA girlfriend printed this recipe out and was sharing it with me at the same time I was telling her about A Busy Mom's Slow Cooker Adventures on Facebook. She said this recipe is awesome and she used her homemade salsa with it. I will be trying it tonight!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! LOL Let me know how you liked it! :)
DeleteI just tried this tonight-it was a hit!!!! Very flavorful but not too spicy~just the way I like it!!!!!thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you enjoyed it!
DeleteSilly question, but I don't cook all that often. I am trying this recipe out right now...do you stir it at any point, or just let it "do it's thing"? :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNot a silly question! Nope, no stirring necessary!
DeleteMy husband doesn't like black beans what could I put in there instead of black beans
ReplyDeleteAny kind of beans he likes, or just leave them out.
DeleteCould I substitute the cream of chicken soup for something less creamy? Chicken broth maybe?
ReplyDeleteI would just use milk instead.
DeleteI put about 4 chicken breasts in the slow cooker and pour on top a jar of salsa, a drained can of black beans, and a drained can of corn. I eat it as a dip, as nachos, and in tortillas. It's best in whole wheat ones. This looks good enough to try as something a little different.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great as well!
DeleteHi Hope. I don't have any low sodium taco seasoning. Will it be way too salty if I use a regular packet?
ReplyDeleteWhat's approximate serving size on this?
ReplyDeleteWhat's approximate serving size on this?
ReplyDeleteMy kids love this! Thanks for posting it! We're having it again tonight!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the serving size? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt truly depends on how you're serving it. Tacos, about 6-8 servings maybe. Main dish like pictured- about 4
DeleteThis was the best salsa ranch chicken I've ever had. I served it over a blend of brown rice and quinoa. Delicious!!! Thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteI've been making something similar to this for about 3 or 4 years. My girlfriend would make it - again, not exactly the same as mine but similar. I use 2# chicken breast (boneless skinless), sprinkle with the taco seasoning and into the crock pot and then pour on 1 12 oz bottle of ranch and a 12 oz. jar of salsa and cook 5 or 6 hours. I then shred the chicken with 2 forks, add the black beans (opt) and heat till beans are warm through. I make taco's, enchiladas, burritos out of it and sometimes serve it over rice. Everyone who eats it loves it.
ReplyDeleteDelicious. Also found I could leave the black beans out and serve them on the side for my mother who has digestive difficulties.
ReplyDeleteDelicious! And so easy. I found it's just as good if you leave out the black beans and serve them on the side, for my mother who has digestive difficulties.
